NOTD Girly Bits Glo Worm

Today I'm wearing a polish that's not my own! My friend Pam over at Girly Bits has really outdone herself with her latest collection, Slapdash. Today I'm wearing Glo Worm, a magnificent BRIGHT green with the most beautiful glass fleck shimmer.

You have to imagine it even brighter than these pictures show. Glo Worm freaked out my camera, and it refused to capture the true brightness of this shade. It's absolutely amazing.

The formula is top notch, super easy to work with. What you see here is three easy coats. It definitely needed the three coats to obliterate visible nail line, but I expect that with these kinds of shades.

Just perfect!

Invoices are coming...

I had intended for invoices for pre-orders to go out tomorrow, but I'll be away from the computer all day. I'm going to start working on sending them out today instead. =) Pin It

A Sad Farewell to Nerds

FYI, I'm pulling Nerds from the lineup. I can no longer get the right size fuchsia glitter. =\ If that changes in the future, it may make a reappearance. I'm deleting Nerds from the pre-order sheet, so you won't be invoiced for it. Thank you all for your support! Pin It

Duh!

It was just pointed out to me that I left Hydrangea off the order form. If you already filled out the form, please e-mail me at noelie68 (at) gmail (dot) com, and I'll add it to the list for you.

The form has been updated now, so anyone accessing it from now on will be able to choose Hydrangea as an option. Sorry about that! Pin It

SmittenPolish Restock and Pre-order Info

Okay! This time I'm going to try something new and see how it works out. I'm going to put up a form for pre-orders for my next re-stock. Here's how it will work:

  • This restock will be for my existing 13 shades only. I'm still awaiting supplies to make the newer shades, so those will likely be available in about two weeks.
  • The form will stay active until I have as many orders as I feel I can reasonably fill by next week's restock.
  • If there is a run on certain colors and I see that I'm getting more requests than I can make with the supplies I have on hand, I will pull those colors from the form.
  • I will be making the polishes all week. I won't invoice anyone until the polishes are physically made and in my possession. Invoices should go out next weekend, if all goes as planned, and then shipping will happen the following week.
  • If I run low on a polish that you've requested and I'm unable to provide it at this time, I'll e-mail you to let you know and we can figure out from there if you want me to proceed with the rest of your order. I'm going to try really hard to not let that happen though. =)
  • Any stock I make beyond what's been pre-ordered will then be placed into my Etsy shop next Sunday, 7/29, at 6:00pm EASTERN TIME.
  • Polishes are $9.00 per bottle. All bottles are full size 15ml bottles. Shipping for the US is $3.00 for the first bottle, $0.50 per additional bottle. For Canada, it's $3.50 for the first bottle, $0.50 per additional bottle. For the rest of the world, it's $5.00 for the first bottle, $1.00 for each additional bottle.

I think that covers it. I'm hoping that this will help me to manage the chaos of restocking a little bit better, and that this will help you guys to get the shades you really want. By invoicing directly, this will also avoid the problem I keep having, which is that some people have been buying custom listings that are meant for someone else. All of this means more work for me and less time I can put into actually making the polishes. I'm hopeful that this will work out well, and that I'll be able to do a combination of pre-orders and Etsy stocking going forward.

I'm really sorry if there have been bumps along the way. There's quite a learning curve that goes into running a business like this, and I thank you all for your patience as I try to figure out the best practices to make this a more pleasant experience all around!

Now after all of that, here is the form. Thank you so much for your support!

What I did yesterday...

These don't have names yet. Fair warning - the red stained when I took it off, so unless I find a way to make that stop happening, the red will probably not make it to production. The green, blue and purple seem to be doing fine though. =) These are three coats each, though you could obviously use them as layering polishes as well. There is a TON of glitter in these, so they are thirsty and need some top coat love to get them smooth.

I'm planning to restock again next weekend, and I'll be including these if the glitter for them arrives in time. I'll be updating here and on Facebook to keep you guys informed.

Thank you all again so much for your support. It means more than you could possibly know. =)

P.S. I do have some more milky glitters in the works as well - just waiting on the supplies I need to do the base colors. =)

Jade Fascinio Violeta

Irony. After weeks of unremitting heat and bright sun here in southeast Missouri, today it is overcast and threatening rain. Of course it is, because I got my Jade holos in the mail yesterday and planned to photograph Fascinio Violeta today. =p Instead of full sunlight, which would have shown the holo at its best, I've had to settle for lightbox and desk lamp pictures.

These first two are in my lightbox. These are more color accurate, but don't really show the holo very well at all. These are VERY strong linear holo polishes, but the lights I use in my lightbox just can't really capture that very well.

Fascinio Violeta is such a lovely, lovely sort of medium purple. These next photos show it as being much darker and sort of murkier than it actually is, but they DO show the holo really well.

Application on Fascinio Violeta was super easy. What's shown here is two effortless coats. This is one of those easy to apply holos, like the Ozotics or OPI DS holos, so I just used my normal base coat rather than an aqua base. Dry time was on the longer side for a holo, but not outrageous.

Gorgeous, no? The Jade holo collection is available at llarowe and retail for $10 each.

Smitten Polish Lovely Lilacs + an Update

Ok, whew! All the packages are wrapped up, and the batch is being brought to the post office today. =) Supplies for the restock have all been ordered (I hope), so now I'm just waiting for everything to arrive.

The nice thing about waiting for supplies is that I actually get to do my own nails. I love making polish, but I end up with totally wrecked polish and jacked up cuticles. Anyway! I decided to try to get some decent pictures of Lovely Lilacs. I find it very difficult to photograph. Photos out in the sun tend to wash it out, like these:

These pics aren't terrible, but Lovely Lilacs is actually much richer than these photos would lead you to believe. *sigh* This is three coats, by the way. It's pretty sheer, but the base color builds really well.

So I rebuilt my light box today to try taking photos of Lovely Lilacs that way, and I think that these are much better. Not perfect, but better!

So there you go. Much better swatches of Lovely Lilacs than what I've had previously!

Thank you for reading, and thank you all so much for your purchases and support! xoxo

Another quick update

The weather is acting up here, and so is my internet connection. I'm working on getting stocked, but it's slow going. I'm trying to get everything in there on time, but please be patient!

Restock tonight!

I plan to open the shop at 5:00pm CENTRAL TIME at www.smittenpolish.com!

I also need to apologize in advance that some of the shades are in slightly more limited quantities than I had originally planned due to a tragic lacquer base spill. =( I plan to make plenty of them next time though. *sigh* At least it only spilled on my table and didn't get on the carpet, right?
