Ozotic 518 + Zoya Blair

A couple of months ago, my sweet friend Nola suggested that I try layering my Ozotic holos over other colors, especially darker shimmers, to create different shades. I wanted to wear 518, but I wanted the color to be just a bit deeper, so I decided to follow her advice.

This is what 518 normally looks like. It's a stunning and very sexy BRIGHT red holo.

And here's how 518 looks layered over Zoya Blair, a gorgeous blackened red.

This honestly took my breath away. I feel like I've never seen anything quite so beautiful. It would never have occurred to me to layer them this way if Nola hadn't suggested it, so I thought I'd pass the idea along.

Ozotic Mish Mash 532

Holographic multi-chromatic polish? What type of voodoo is this?! 

The latest offering from Ozotic Pro is a series of holographic multichrome polishes they call Mish Mash. 532 is the holographic version of Ozotic 505, which is the one that shifts from teal to purple, and at the most extreme angle, to pink. It is incredible.

The formula is great, as has been my experience with my other Ozotics, though this one is sheer. What's shown here is two coats over one coat of black.

These photos were taken outside, but the holo effect is very strong. Even indoors, I'm getting at least a hint of rainbows in most lighting situations.

Ozotic Pro 617

And this is the second Ozotic polish that I ordered, 617. I don't have as much to say about this one, not because I don't love it, but just because I blabbed so much about 518. =) This one is a scattered holo.

The effect isn't as in-your-face-rainbows as with the linear holo of 518, but it's stunning just the same. The effect is almost like having opals on your nails or something. It's incredibly rich and complex.

Again, great formula on this one. Two easy coats, no pulling, dragging, nothing. Completely hassle free.

I want to try layering both of these over a darker polish to see what happens. My buddy Nola has done that with some of her Ozotics, so I definitely want to try it. But for now, I'm enjoying just wearing them as they are. I wore 518 for two days, and I'm on my second day with 617. I'd actually have worn 518 for even longer than that, but I was absolutely dying to try this one too!

I definitely want more of these. I have to start saving up! =)

Ozotic Pro 518

Ozotic Pro is an Australian nail polish company that crafts some of the most amazing polishes I've ever seen. They are well known in the polish community for their holographic and multichrome polishes. From the very first picture I saw of an Ozotic, this is how I felt (see, Jess? I told you I was snagging that lemming!).

When I first started collecting, Ozotics were VERY hard to come by. They weren't easy to find even in Australia, so for us girls in the US, it was a major challenge. Then the news came - Picture Polish was going to start shipping worldwide! Even so, it took me several months to pull the trigger on an order. They're more expensive than what I'll normally spend on polish. The order I placed for two polishes was a rare splurge for me, and I could hardly wait for them to arrive. And now I'll stop blabbering and show you the polish. =)

Ozotic Pro 518 is a true red linear holographic polish. I'm actually kind of struck speechless by how incredible it is. Red. Holo. *head explodes*

I took a mixture of lightbox and sunlight pics of this baby to show that the holo actually does come out to play in normal lighting too. It's more stunning in the sun, of course... but what holo isn't?

I could not be more thrilled with this polish. The formula is GREAT. Two effortless coats. Top coat didn't dull the holo effect at all. Yes, this was a rare splurge for me, but I can honestly say it was worth every single penny.

I was also very happy with Picture Polish's customer service. It took about a week from the time I ordered until I received my shipping notification. I knew to expect that, so I was fine with it. For someone who is as impatient as me, I managed to have a pretty zen-like attitude about waiting for these to show up. =) From the time that I got the shipment notification, it took exactly 10 days for them to arrive. The polishes were really, really well packed to make sure they made their long journey safely. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
