Reswatch of OPI Absolutely Alice

Since I already had on a dark blue polish today, I decided to use that as a base for Absolutely Alice and reswatch it using my new camera settings and lights. I'm very, very happy with this, I must say! Enjoy!

Sunshine Award and Would You Rather - Beauty Edition TAG

First up is my Would You Rather.

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eye liners, lipsticks and lip glosses or lose all your palettes and eye shadows?

Eyeshadows. I can do a lot with all the rest of it, but losing eyeliner and mascara would be disastrous. =p

Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

I'd rather chop it all off (must to my husband's dismay) because I really can't deal with the weight of having really long hair, which I had for a very long time.

Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

Pink! I'm a cool toned girl, so pink works for me!

If you had £1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

I have pretty simple and cheap tastes in clothes, so makeup it is!

Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?

Lipstick as eyeliner, I think. Either is gross. o.O

Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Sephora since I am not a MAC fan. >.<

Would you rather use only one eye shadow colour or one lip colour the rest of your life?

Lip color! I have way more eye shadows than lip colors to start with.

Would you rather wear winter clothes in the summer or summer clothes in the winter?

Summer clothes in the winter. At least I can layer those to make some semblance of warm clothes, but if I wore winter clothes in summer in either Louisiana or Missouri, I'd end up in the hospital with heat stroke. =p

Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

I'd probably go with bright. I wear both equally, but if I had to choose, I'd rather not lose access to my all my bright blues!

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a pony tail or messy bun?

Pony tail.

Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?

I don't use lip gloss, and I'm addicted to nail polish, soo...

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?

I'd almost rather not have any. I have bangs, so it's not like you see my eyebrows anyway...

Would you rather live without make up or nail polish?

Makeup, hands down.

Orly Royal Navy

The theme this week on the nail board is Forgotten Loves, polishes that we love but haven't worn in a few months. The first one that popped to mind for me was Orly Royal Navy.

Royal Navy is a royal blue jelly that is packed with aqua shimmer. It tends to settle to the bottom of the bottle, so when I know I'm going to be wearing it, I turn it upside down for a couple of hours to let the shimmer mix back into the polish.

I've mentioned before that my husband has a mutant power where he can pick out the polishes that I should get, even when I'm not that excited about them at first. This is the first polish he ever did that with.

I picked it up and put it back in the rack and he basically went, "ARE YOU CRAZY?" and pulled it back out of the rack. ^_^ I love my husband for many reasons, but my heart just soared that day.

Interesting aside, you'll probably notice that my pictures look dramatically different with this post. I added some more lights about a week ago, and I realized that instead of making my pictures look better, the new lights made them look worse. o.O

I asked for some advice on the nail board today, and some lovely ladies helped me out. (Shout out of thanks to Love8Brain, rachtotheizzo, JabberwockJess, steffels, ch3ryl89, shellly - as well as KtB for moral support!). They taught me how to use my camera (duh) and now I am actually happy with the photos on this blog.

It never ceases to amaze me how helpful and generous and just plain awesome this community can be. Thank you, ladies. You saved my sanity today! =)

Simple Beauty 175

About a month ago, my buddy over at nailXchange posted a haul that she did in Poland, and this polish was included in that bunch. When Nola over at Hedonism, Ltd. offered to include it in our most recent swap, I jumped at the chance!

I'm having a devil of a time accurately capturing this one. It's purple with an insane blue shimmer, very reminiscent of RBL Scrangie. My camera, however, is insisting on making it blue.

I tried a bunch of different light configurations and a bunch of different settings on my camera, and it was having none of it. I think that it's confusing to the camera because this is almost a duochrome. As I look down at my hands now, at certain angles it looks almost entirely purple, at other times, it's a glowing blue.
